Bus Ride to Military Compound

After some ridiculous half spanish half swahelli language coming out of my mouth to the bus driver - we figured out when to get off. We landed on a Military compound with nothing but jungle on either side of the road - animals just lurking- the video is great - felt like Jurassic park without being in the SUV´s.

We arrive at a desolate box office booth out of The Hills Have Eyes pay1 Reales which is 50 cents and Jessie darts off into the complex. BUT this time I start the video camera. This is the third time this guy has bolted to a bathroom. Lets call it a shithole. It was rancid. To top it all off they didn´t have toiletpaper. The video is priceless.

We saw a jaguar in heat, some boa contrictors swimming - crazy anaconda and a sleeping sloth- of course the traditional monkeys and birds but whizzed by them - been there done that.

It was sweltering and my face was burning - forgot sunscreen - sweating again. Jessie ordered another coke - I couldn´t resist - had a pepsi - safe.

Coke gets Jesse chatting the whole bus ride back about Thailand and China - Cambodia and some crazy 7 day train ride from Moscow to Bejing.

We pass the slums on the river - just totally sad. Oh did I mention I was carrying a boiling 2 liter bottle of YARA around. By the way Every single American on this trip got the shots :)

I currently reside in a computer cafe set up like the one the lead was in during slumdog millionaire.

Anyway met two married american women who are on a mission in the amazon then to thailand then to africa. They invited me on June 9th to go to a Childrens Aid Center - then to a school to teach english for the day and then some random cultural center. I am definitely going to do that before they leave.

  2. Brad - enough of movie making. You were clearly born to be a writer. Your blogs (column) are one of the highlights of my day and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. You're on this journey alone, but taking us all along with you. Keep it up!
